Crochet darning a hole

Using crochet to darn your socks or any other hole isn’t very difficult if you already know how to crochet a single crochet stitch.

It’s quite easy to learn, just check out this Video

To darn a hole with crochet you will need

A little bit of darning yarn or a sock yarn. You can also use a pure wool yarn, but then you will need to have a sewing thread with it for reinforcement.

A crochet hook matching your yarn

A needle to secure ends

A scissor

1. I start by single crochet around the hole. Sticking the crochet hook through the sock. Creating a base for your darning.

A good tip is to crochet in the tail as you go.

2.  Slip stitch to first single crochet in your base.

3. Chain  1

Single crochet 2 stitches, Decrease by single crochet 2 stitches together.

Repeat until the end of the row. Slipstitch to the first stitch of the row.

4. Chain 1, single crochet 1 stitch decrease by single crochet 2 stitches together

Repeat until the end of the row. Slipstitch to the first stitch of the row.

5. Chain 1 single crochet 2 stitches together until the hole is closed. Bind of a secure the ends

Now you know how to crochet darn a hole.
